How Integrity Plus Works

What Integrity Plus Does

This program is more than just an occupation.  It is an opportunity for men to build a functional thinking structure and become practical, decisive Christian thinkers and doers regarding the things in their lives.

The Problem: At-Risk Demographics and their Belief Systems

The Problem: The At Risk Population

The Integrity Plus target audience includes “at risk men” with an underworld belief system. This belief system is a mentality that produces behavior that places many of the participants in a dysfunctional, drug and alcohol addicted, incarcerated, black market economic environment that strips them of the functional order that  is needed for positive social success.

Therefore, this program has to place a functional thinking structure into the belief system of those that attend.

Once the participant has genuinely displayed evidence of the five core values, a professional work ethic, and complete knowledge of the trade, then the staff and management will agree to serve as a reference for him when he needs a source of credibility in the future.

Program Motto:  Change what they believe, and you’ll change what they do!

The Integrity Plus Program

Phase One:  Skill Development – Producing  Professionalism

Each participant will be place on an Integrity Plus Lawn Maintenance crew for the purposes of learning the trade.  The trade is designed to instill a work skill and professionalism that the participant can use for the purposes of renewed self-worth.

Note:  We believe it is tough to remain stuck in the hood with a lawnmower and a weed-eater in your hands if one desires a better life.

The participant’s attitude, moral development, and skills will be evaluated first by the field manager, and then by the Integrity Plus Board of Directors.  Each participant is evaluated weekly on their progress.

The evaluations are a way to monitor the improvement of the participant so that we can begin to prepare a case that can be presented to a company for future employment opportunity, a skeptical apartment complex, or a hopeful investor that would finance their new business start-up as worthwhile project.

The evaluation also serves as a personal assessment for the participant, so they will have an idea of their progress, as it is viewed by the supervisors and team members…

Job Skills Completion

The job skills process is complete when the participant is able to comprehend the business and perform it in a very professional manner.  For Integrity Plus, this means the men will:

  • Know how to cut, trim, edge, and blow a property.
  • Know how to bid a property.
  • Known how to manage and budget the funds from the property.
  • Know how to perform equipment maintenance.
  • Know how to perform vehicle maintenance.
  • Know and understand effective customer relations.
  • Know and understand honest and sound business ethics.

Phase Two: The Moral Values Program

The Integrity Plus Moral Values Program is a core program in the system, and is very important to the success of our work because of the role values play in the structure of functional thinking and the process of positive decision making.

The “At Risk” Belief System

Many of the “at risk” community are recognized by their consistent dysfunctional behavior. There is no understanding of logical order and standards; and, it is not organized in their belief about life. One example of this is the idea of living a life of just doing what is right.  By this, I mean that their idea of going through life doing right just because it’s right (integrity) doesn’t register as something of value to them. More often than not, at risk men believe that the standard of living that is valuable is doing wrong until they get caught.

Therefore, our core values program is designed to instill the idea of righteous thinking until it becomes righteous behavior.

There are five core values that are essential to this program:

  1. Integrity – We define integrity as doing right because it’s right
  2. Stewardship – We define stewardship as the ability to take care of other people’s things as if they were your own.
  3. Servanthood – We define servant-hood as helping others to be the best they can be in all they do.
  4. Faithfulness – We define faithfulness a always being true to your word
  5. Truthfulness – We define truthfulness as the absence of deception, scheming, or lying.

The Process:

  • The participant is given an orientation on the program.
  • The orientation gives management and staff a chance to explain the program and evaluate the current belief system of the participant to determine if they are a good candidate for assistance.
  • After the orientation, management assembles a strategy and a time line for the participant and places them into the program..
  • Once the participant is place on the truck, his moral behavior is assessed.
  • During this time the participant’s true nature is revealed and his behavior pattern is defined.
  • Continuous interaction between management and the participant, though the written evaluations, allows the office staff to working on the details of preparing the case for their improvement in life and provides for the transferring of positive values that becomes meaningful.

The Completion of the Moral Values Program

This is a two-year program. The two-year timeframe is designed to give team leaders and members time to deal with severe cases of at-risk subjects and dysfunctional behavior.  The weekly moral evaluations are a key part of this process.  Once management and staff believe that the work skills and the five core values are genuinely integrated in the belief system of the participant, we begin to develop a case profile and release strategy to prepare each participant to reach his new future.
